Where does the Exhibit get the Nativities and Advent Calendars?

The exhibit is sponsored and hosted by The Elko are congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but is an interdenominational community effort. The nativities and, this year, advent calendars come from members of the communities of Northeastern Nevada. This exhibit could not exist without the willingness of many people to lend their nativities—many, precious family treasures—with the exhibit for all who come to the exhibit to enjoy.

A few of the nativities are the altar crèches from area churches, and some come from organizations.

You are invited to share and display your Nativities and Advent Calendars

You are invited to share your nativity (or multiple nativities, or any items having to do with the Biblical Christmas Story) with the exhibit. As an interfaith, community event, this is a standing, and open invitation. This year we are featuring Advent Calendars and invite you to display your faith-focused advent calendars with the exhibit. (We ask that sSantas, reindeers, snowmen, superheros, cartoon characters, dinossaurs etc.stay home so that the exhibit is focused on Jesus Christ. Thank you.)

If you would like to share with this year's exhibit, please bring your items to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 3001 N. Fifth Street on the following dates:

Tuesday, November 27: Advent Calendars and any items, such as framed art, wall hangings, quilts, or anything that needs to be hung on a wall—8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, November 28: NATIVITIES—7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.

When you arrive, you will check-in your items before setting up your nativity.

Tablecloths will be on the tables, however you are welcome to bring any accessories that you normally use to display your nativity, such as doilies, runners, fabric, risers, and the like.

Please note that if your nativity has lights, electricity will not be available. Also, candles will not be able to be lit.

Pick up your items on Monday, December 3th, from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Before taking your items home, please check-out —this way we know you have your nativity. Also, please make sure you have all of your items, and also please double-check that you haven't picked up someone else's items by mistake.
